Hi
I'm need of a little advise.
There's a few various issue's i have with my Brava 1.2 (2001)
About 1 month ago i had a new clutch fitted and at the time the mechanic messed us around big time.
The day after he fitted it the engine management light came on and stayed on but the car worked fine so i rang him and he said he had caught the earth lead and to disconnect it for 30 mins but more fool me i never got round to it and carried on driving.
This week the car has messed up started cutting out at junctions.
But then the engine went even worse ,stuttering, lack of power and i was told it was only firing on 3 spark plugs so i replaced all plugs and it seemed to work ok,but the management light stayed on.
Then the next day when my wife was out in it, it started doing the same thing stuttering when driving with lack of power than going back to normal for a while.
so now its parked up in the garage.
But i have some concerns i think the bloke who did the clutch has done some damage to the car
I've uploaded images of the following so you can all have a better idea of what i mean

I'm a novice so dont know know the names of things but the pipe that comes from the air filter tube and connects directly to the top of the engine it was snapped and tapped up with masking tape!
whats the name of this pipe and what effect will it have being snapped.

Also bigger problem is there is a crack in the engine near where he put the new clutch in its about 3" long, what shall i do about that?
And lastly there a 2 big multipin connectors on the top of the engine 1 of them is buzzing then clicking i have taken it of and sprayed with wd40 but still no good
What are these connnectors and is it bad ones buzzing
heres all the images again

Really sorry to be going on,ive got the car booked in for friday but am worried about all these things
thanks alot for any advise
its really appreciated

First of all, to get what the real cause is that makes the engine light to appear, you will need to get a diagnostic check done.

now to the pics:
1): 2 connectors at back
If your mean the 2 big connectors, then its the main connectors on the ECU. And if its clicking, it should do that.

2): cracked pipe
This pipe leads oil vapour from the sump to the engine inlet, so it can be burned. Just mask it with some ducktape or similar. The best would be to get a new bent part from fiat.

3): crack in engine further away

WTF, the mechanic, as I can see broke your gear box flange.
Go to him and break his legs.
You will have to get that welded if it can be.

thanks alot sven thats eased my mined a little with the pipe and the clicking the cars booked in for friday for the diagnostic test so hopefully that will tell me the problem and theres a welding department at work so i should be able to get the crack done there so angry about that but there saying they didnt do it but thats another story , thanks again though for that

That crack is very new - there is no dirt inside but the surrounding area is covered in Oil. In fact the larger picture shows a couple of drops forming just to the right of the bell housing (look into that too).
Take the car back to them and demand an explanation and compensation - regardless of being able to get it welded or not they have damaged your car!

Thats a LOT of oil on that gearbox. wtf? Is your clutch slave cylinder leaking too?

Hi
thanks for the replys guys.
ive spoke to the tw*t that did the clutch and hes saying he didnt cause that crack so im taking this further no worrys!!.
About the car i have replaced the ECU coolant temperature sensor and that seems to have cured the main problem i was having ie: lack of power,stuttering....
but the engine management light is still on ,i disconnected the battery while i was changing the sensor hoping when i restarted it would reset but nope.
as for the clutch leaking im not sure i'll look into that defo but theres never been any patches of oil under the car
so im gonna take it in for a diagnostic test to tell me why the lights on...hopefully its nothing major
thanks again guys

Citizens advice Bureau!

The dash ligh you mention is a fault notification and is triggered by a number of factors. It can only be reset during a Diagnostic so do what you said you would and assuming you have cured the problem it will stay out.
