Technical My wiper fell off twice!!

My front wiper arm fell off twice on the way home from Morrisons the other day and I'm feeling like a bit of a plonker holding it in my right hand wiping furiously through the open window as I drive along!

Has anyone got a good bodge for me?

I've got some JB weld and thought about bonding it back together... I've got a spare un-f##ked arm and a spare motor unit but I'd rather not fart about fitting it if I can make the existing kit work for a bit longer...

Put in onto the shaft and drill a hole straight through from the side.
Ie. through the arm and spindle.
Make sure you drill it evenly and don't break the drill.
Then put a split pin through the hole.
This will allow it to work.

If its really loose, you could araldite it on after drilling but before you put the pin through.

A good quick fix is to use some kitchen foil like a shim between the spindle and the arm. Push the wiper arm back on over a layer or two of foil and tighten down on it.

On my current and previous Pandas which nearly all had the problem at some point, I simply filled the wiper cup with epoxy (Araldite) and stuck it on. They all worked for the life of my ownerships first time! The epoxy allows a moderate flex and seems to prevent it from shattering under the jerking it gets.

Just make sure you mark the point in the arc exactly where it came from or else you will smash the arm on the bonnet or miss have the drivers side.

Didn't work when i tried it. Replacment arm was all I needed!

I'll give the bonding a go first with the old wiper arm (if it flies off again I'll at least have the new one in the boot!) and if that doesn't work I'll roll pin it as well as gluing it.

same happened to me!! araldite was the easiest very strong just leave it a good 24hrs to set.:slayer:
