Having converted my Ulysse to the 7"screen display (see this thread: https://www.fiatforum.com/ulysse/336192-rt3-help-advice.html)

There are still some 'niggly' things about the system that i do not like:
1. The Maps - There limited flexibility and expense of updating.
2. Comms - The lack of a bluetooth facility for linking my normal daily phone, (Yes I have the RT3 phone but thats another Number peeps have to use to get hold of me when driving!)

There are some things however that I do like:
1. RT3 integration with the diagnostics (on screen warnings and notifications)
2. Multiple trip computers.

I'll Update this thread as things progress..
From these points I am working on my new project.
As most know, fitting a non standard In Car Entertainment (ICE) system is straight forward enough however you loose the RT3 features and no ICE systems are compatible with the RT3 systems (that I have been able to find).
To that end I am going to try and fit a Dual system (RT3 + ICE)
To do this I will need the following:
1. Dual clock +7" screen display (Prestigio type screen doesn't need to work!) - no yet sourced
2. Type 2 Green LCD display - Sourced, Thanks yellow.
3. RT3 N1 - Sourced, already have
4. Set of front centre air vents and ducting - Not yet Sourced
5. Single Din ICE system - Sourced already have

This (well something similar) is the ICE system I will be using:

The one i have doesn't eject the motorized screen due to an internal cog being broken but can be extracted manually making it ideal for my plans. this unit came from my previous MK1 Ulysse and has served me well, it has everything on it that i want:
1. GPS - IGO mapping which is easily customizable and maps that are updated regularly.
2. MP3
3. CD/DVD
4. Touch screen
5. External camera Facility
6. Steering wheel control facility
+ many other features

And so a brief outline of the plan:

RT3 unit will stay in its current location However, the current screen will be 'downgraded' to the type 2 Multifunction display and this will be fitted in its 'normal' location.
The prestigio 7" screen will be removed from the display and the screen from my ICE will be inserted in its place.
The ICE will be located within the area of the centre front vents, however i will want to keep the airflow function of the vents so will have to modify these.
The sound will be predominantly from the ICE system however the RT3 will link in on the front speakers to allow for warning beeps etc.

Well that's the plan!, still got lots to work out yet and still got parts to source.
me thinks steering wheel controls for the ICE are going to be the biggest issue!

I know a guy who bought a set of clocks of me, his colour screen didn't work, I think he's on the forum but I may still have his number somewhere.

Instead of removing the air vents why not just dump the 6 CD player ( who uses these now anyway) and put an ICE headunit down there? Some have remote controls which you could mount on the dashboard to save bending down but most can be controlled via IPhone etc.

A simple mixer could be used to control volume from one unit to the other.

Thinking about it, why not put the RT3 unit down there, it already has remote controls on the console and the steering wheel!

Valid points franc, however, I do not have the Multi CD and no wiring exists down there, this would therefore involve some serious loom work to get it all wired down there. My ICE also has remote and could feasibly got down there but it would make it fidelly for changing MP3 cards/CD/DVD's etc.

I want to keep it central for easy access especially with all the various different connections for ICE inc cam, additional screens,Ipod & Aux cons etc.
I am also considering installing the DVB TV box as well, so the Multi CD bay would be Ideal for that and the splitter for additional screens etc.
