Re: New Doblo!
Hello Everyone!
Just picked up my new Doblo’ 1.3 Dynamic.
This is to share with you my happiness and mainly to thank you all for the valuable information and opinion about the car I have found in the forum
But notably for your fairness and nonchalance in judging it.
Since last year, I watched several web sites and fora searching for pros and cons of the car.
Being interested in minimising my contribution to the environmental pollution and heating, I was able to find a web site based in Switzerland about the “Environmental Classification” of cars.
Happy to read that the Doblo’ 1.3 Multijet DPF is classified in “A class” in the catalogue.
On the other side, watching your forum, I have found much of the problems I should expect and possible solutions.
Amused by your proverbial British humour too. Funny to read “The kind of car you could bump in a car-park with an even chance of it ending up looking better” and “At least while you drive it you haven’t to see it”. Agree, but reading that the car works honestly for most of you too, I concluded that it is what I need. In particular, interesting that many Doblos are driven by taxi drivers: they are professionals and I expect they judge the car with severity: will follow their comments.
As you’ll have already found out reading my “Italinglish” (or “Englian” if you want) I’m Italian and I watched several foreign web sites in search for opinions and info. Why foreign? Just because in Italy there are mainly enthusiasts or detractors, few fair opinions. On the contrary, reading comments of German, French, Swiss and British People I had an unbiased statistics supporting my choice.
In any case, the FIAT Italian official website hosts a forum covering all the models (Seicento, Croma, Panda, Idea, Punto, Sedici, Stilo, Bravo…) but Doblo’ and Ulysse.
By the way, got the Doblo’ to replace my old 1982 Lancia Delta LX 1300 (462,000 km in 25 years)… hoping to enjoy the new car for a comparable time / distance…
Got a Panda 4x4 since 1986 too (FIRE 1000 carburettor engine, double sunroof, red colour), used for off-road amusing and to reach my favourite ski resort on the Alps when the weather is snowy. A great car in its extreme simplicity: no electronic gadgets / gizmos, incredible mobility and performance on the snow, 109,000 km (about 30% off-road) in 21 years without any major trouble nor rust in the body.
A last consideration. Here in Italy the Doblo’ gender is considered “male”. In fact FIAT’s advertising talks about the “Nuovo Doblo’” (meaning New Doblo’ in a male sense, otherwise they should say “Nuova Doblo’”). Nice to see and agree that you consider it (I should say her) female (Mrs. Dobbie, Mrs. G’s Cargo, etc…). Will write FIAT a complaint letter…
Enjoy your Dobbies!
Ciao a tutti (Hi All).
