While I was waiting to enter a roundabout!

Got hit by a 4X4 doing about 5mph, crumpled the boot so it wouldn't close. Repairs estimated at £1500, car value £1000.

I now have a Rover 416i. Just not the same

Although, 3rd party insureance comes out at £45 for the year.

Want a fiat again.

Compo from whiplash - £3000
Replacement Marea - £1000
Penknife to slash 4x4 tyres - £12.38

Seriously though get some more quotes. Get the idiot in the 4x4 to pay for the repairs, or report to police for driving without due care and attention. Valeen just got a crumpled boot repaired - think it cost him about £400-£500 in total and it looks almost as good as new.

Just noticed the other thread here, https://www.fiatforum.com/marea/84567-final-rip-my-marea.html

where I should have posted this.

Agree with you about the 4X4s Beast!

Really loved that car, bought for a song (£400), reliable, fast, uncommon and being a Fiat, a bit more cache than most boxes on the road.

Even got used to the squeeky suspension that these things all seem to have!

RIP Flossy

Cheers Hellcat

Too late, got £1000 and expenses. Fully comp gave me a new Toyota Avensys for a month, (still not as good as the Marea though). Managed to dent that one too. Always take out collision damage waiver! Courtesy cars are the best handling cars you can get but sometimes they still get a bit of a nudge.

The guy that did it was a bit stroppy though so I wish I'd claimed a touch of whiplash like you suggested.

If a clown like that bumped my Marea I would sue to be put back in the postion I was in before, ie full repair to Fiat anti corrosion standards, anything to avoid a Rover 200! (The MG would be good though)

I would sell the 4x4 drivers internal organs to science rather than suffer a Rover or its pimped half-breed cousin, MG.

What they hell did he have to be stroppy about? He drove into your back end... I'd have lamped him if he'd got stroppy.

Yep, nearly came to that. This guy claimed it was my fault for not pulling away! Its obvious that this guy was looking to the right to see if there was a gap and has just assumed I've taken off then went for a gap himself WITHOUT LOOKING FORWARD! sweet fancy moses!

This happened on a rainy afternoon after work, low light levels. He gets out of his sky blue 4X4 heap with sunglasses on!

Him: I was only doing 5mph
Me: You weren't even looking
Him: I skidded
Me: Not at 5 miles per hour you didn't
Him: No I didn't skid
Me: Well which is it then?

after much fannying about involving him trying to not give me his name only the company he works for, telling me there's no damage to my car (the boot wont even shut!) he says...

...learn to drive

Now Hellcat, I'm sure we are both agreed that this is the lamping commencement point but I went up 2 inches from his face and growled in one breath

"Yeah, I'll get yer ma to teach me. Perhaps if you took off those sunglasses you'd be able to see cars 2 feet in front of you, or did you just put those on to try to look cool and intimidating? in which case I think that worked really well you doss f***er! say goodbye to your no claims bonus"

At which point he went a bit quiet and avoided the lamping. I was so close I even saw a bit of spit land on his cheek :D

I understand people making mistakes while driving (I put an Escort head first into a wall once) but trying to avoid responsibility for your f*** up at other peoples expense is just not on.

Thanks for all your support.

If that had been me and he had told me to learn to drive... I think my extendable wheel brace may have had a hint of sky blue paint on it by now.. and him not have a single straight panel. Of course my rear numberplate would have fallen off in the collision :p

Well done for not decking him, if you had then he may have got away with it claiming the car was reversed into while parked, since if you stuck around to
press your claim he could have got plod to go after you for assault. Instead by staying cool you have given him a very rough 1/2 hour with his boss, and a 1.2 Toyoata Corolla at car change time which will hurt more and last longer than a few bruises.:) Incidentally, even when it is blatantly your fault like it was his, never say so as the weasel insurance companies may wriggle out of paying up as they tell you not to admit liabilty. With company cars there are usually standing instructions from management backing this up so you could get a written warning for saying sorry, which makes it difficult. This wasn't what was going on here , he was just an a hole.
PS. I think MGZRs look quite cool but not as cool as this, the BRG MGB is ours, the blown J2 could be described as a pimped Morris Minor but not if you wanted to live:mad:

Some good points there Renegade. Good pic too.

There will be some comeback with his boss as I had to phone his work to confirm his identity.
