Hi all,

My lovely Bravo has suddenly started leaking ! Damp, sodden carpet in passenger footwell after heavy rain..no dampness on seat, dash or via window seals that I can detect..drainage hole in engine compartement near screen are clear.. where is this coming from do you think ? going back to dealer next week...

Thanks, Neil

Neil,

I haven't had this problem with my Bravo, but it was a perpertual one with my previous Renault 5GT Turbo. I eventually found that the rain was running down the window, past the window seal and into the door, where it was leaking out internally. When I opened the door panel, I found that the plastic sheet that covers the door had been removed at some point and not replaced. Putting in a new one solved the problem.

It's easy to check - just get a glass of water and run it down the outside of the window with the door open and see where it comes out!

Door

After polishing the door areas (what can i say - i like a clean car!) i have noticed a squeeky noise on both doors when pulling off my driveway (i am going somewhere with this). This suggests to me there is a lot of flexing going on, so i'm wondering - the sealing ability of the door rubbers may vary depending on where/how you park. Does it leak every time it rains ? Essentially I think Steve is probably right.

Sorry for boring the pants off you...

Cheers,

Grant

leaking sx

had the same problem with my 98' HLX finally traced the problem to a dislodged drain pipe behind the dashboard on the passenger side (don't know where it goes but when it leaks it drips about 1/2" away from the box of tricks behind the dashboard!!!! Like I said I don't know where the pipe goes so I haven't been able to reconnect it so I took the temporary measure of blocking the end of the pipe till I get a chance to get behind the dash!!!!!!! But so far theres been no more leaks (yet).

Leaking Bravo!

I have the same problem, but it was self inlicted. After removing the scuttle panel that covers the wiper motor etc. I discovered a week later that it is impossible to seal up. I still haven't cured it but I think new clips for the scuttle panel and at worst a run of silicone sealent will cure it!
