I did a swap of my 3 door for a 5 door. Looks good until you see the front. Pity about the ignition system, would have gone well on my 84 models.:D

Did you ever hear about the book, "It was on fire when I lay down on it"

Apparently the Fire Department was called to a fire, the man in the house was lying on the bed which was on fire. When they asked him how the fire started he said, "I don't know it was on fire when I lay down on it!"

Well that has absolutely nothing to do with the car but it was like that when I bought it!!

I swapped it for my 90 Uno Sting parts car. More bits on this one that I can use, even including doors, though they are the wrong colour! Might have to learn how to spray paint, as well as rust removal!. :bang:

On these old-style engines the location of the mechanical fuel pump (bottom-front of the engine) necessitated the fuel pipes running up and over the distributor to the carburettor, I think that may have had something to do with the fire, particularly if a plastic fuel filter was fitted and sprung a tiny leak, or perhaps the fuel hoses were in the usual degraded condition. I saw a similar result on a FIAT 128 once.
