General Multipla Spare Wheel

Hi
what is it about the mechanism that holds the spare wheel .?
Is it a single use item . i have had two punctures in my car , and i each time i have to buy a new tyre and a new mechanism to fit the space saver back in .

they are not "use once only parts" but do seam to give problems,but if you keep tension on the cord,buy letting the winch drag the spare across the floor and up seams to do the trick....................
