General Multipla occasionally won't start

Hi, Just bought a 2003 Multipla JTD at the beginning of December, and was absolutely delighted with the car, but then about 2 weeks after getting the car my husband went to the local shop, when he came back out the car was turning over but it won't start, after a few times of trying he rang the mechanic, he arrived after 10 mins and started the car first go.
We had hoped it would be a once off but unfortnately it has happened a few times since, if you leave it for about 10 to 15 minutes it will then start, rather peculiar. We have booked it in to the mechanics for Wednesday but I am worried he won't be able to find out whats wrong! CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE???

About £20-30 for the part. Fitting should be a 30 minute job.

Thanks for all your answers, the mechanic has ordered the part for the car and hopefully that will sort it. Although im totally gutted, while the car was sitting in the mechanics yard some silly sod reversed in to the drivers door, it now has to go else where to get this sorted, really missing it,i tend to have bad luck with cars so looks like some things never change. Thanks again
