My flying frog (multipla) engine does strange things when idling it rattles funny but as soon as accelerater is touched very slighty normal tone nd operation resumes. Also on occasion the engine dosent decelerate straightway when foot is lifted off pedal.

Please help

Welcome to the forum..(y) which engine is it there are a few fitted to the flying frog..:D

Hi and welcome to FF

Your rattling noise could be something like a loose exhaust heatshield on the engine, or something that is affected by the engine rocking on its mounts. As for your other problem a bit more details please! As PNL says we need to know what engine you have fitted to give us something to go on.

thanks for welcome its good to have advice that doesnt come at lots of pounds per hour. Its a 1.9jtd year 2000 205000 miles so far, its not a rattle as such its almost like for a split second it gets a decrease in fuel supply then full supply again then decrease but it only happens when idling and its lasts varying lenghts of time but then slight pressure on pedal revs up slighlty all ok.the other seems to be a delayed reaction to pedal very rare but does happen now and again.

Very difficult to say without experiencing the symptoms. It could be an momentary air/ vacuum leak or a problem with the AFM. If you've had the engine management light on the dashboard come on then the fault will be recorded in the ECU. A diagnostic check might reveal what the problem is.

You could also try asking in the Multipla section of the forum as someone there might have had a similar problem. Sorry I can't be of more help :(

Thought things were going well but alas no, flying frog is now taking on intelligent life of its own.Now staring to rev up without me touching pedal, now losing power slightly and gaining again at will have looked for egr but my mechanical knowledge equates to almost zero there is a vacuum controlled sort of hat shaped unit in middle on front of engine that feeds into air supply on top of engine but doesnt have any wires to it would that be an egr.
P.S i still love my flying frog only car i have ever had that people look at twice.

Me Again, Is a timing belt hard to change on a multipla ive done auxiliary belts on two cars before or is this a no no for the mechanically challenged.
regards to all
