There are two things I want to do with a Fiat Multipla.

1/ Take a 1.6 Multipla 100 and replace the engine with a tuned Coupe 16 or 20Vt one or take a 1.9 JTD and replace it with a 2.4 JTD, Alfa management and JCB turbo.

2/ Get hold of a cheap twin sunroof model and convert it into a camper.

I think it would be fairly straight forward. Replacing the sunroofs with an extendable roof section, ripping the back seats out for a bench and a couple of cupboards.

Has anyone else had this idea or even done a conversion themselves?

Converting an MPV to a camper is the way forward as there are so many bodged builders vans that are limited to 50mph and the Multipla looks so much better than anything with a VW badge.

Indeed a multipla camper is nothing new (there is a red one drives around Norwich) there was also a video recently posted on here of a multipla with a 20v turbo engine fitted.

That said, my brother is currently converting a vw van into a camper and space wise I think I would rather go down that route than convert a multipla

If one came up for sale though I might have to take a look

Is this a realistic plan? If so is it your plan to do both simultaneously on the same vehicle? If so the JTD would be much more practical and sensible :p Not to mention probably easier to sell the other end...
I'd like to see this done!! :D

I don't like the whole "Dub Scene" thing and have always liked the look of the Multipla compared to the shrunken Transit competition.

Maybe you dont like the vw scene, but you might have to follow the vw principle when building a camper in order to maximise space and storage e.g having a rock and roll seat/bed etc

On other fiat conversions - scudo, doblo etc the vw idea is followed, as do many other manufacturers,

There are proper interiors out there designed for other cars/vans/vehicles as well as how to guides all following the vw idea

For me this is where you should go if you are serious - Theres nothing worse than seeing home made jobs that look like someones nailed a few bits of plywood together

I have no issues whatsoever with VW enthusiasts but "Dub Scene" people are either idiots or arseholes in my experience. If any vehicle for sale has "Dub Scene" in the advert it'll be five times what it's worth, knackered or both. The "Dub Scene" has ruined the reputation of VW enthusiasts and until there's a mandatory IQ test as part of the driving licence we're stuck with them.
