hi can anyone give me some info on a cambelt change on multipla 100elx 16v petrol 2001 model . do you have to remove the timing side engine mount or can it be done without removal ? on looking at it it looks like you dont have to remove it , its the one that is like an arm off the bottom of the engine that bolts to the engine mount ? any advice appreciated , regards gaz

Not familiar with the Petrol engine layout, any pictures?

On the JTD, the Engine Steady mounting isn't actually in the way for getting the belt off/on, but it has to be removed to get the covers off to get to the belt.

water pump is not driven off cam belt so you won't have to mess about with it. Also you don't need to remove the mount. Everything is easy to get too. I didn't do the cam belt on mine as my mate did it for me free of charge when i brought the car (he worked for fiat at the time). I recently did my sump, waterpump and downpipe on mine and double checked my cambelt while i was there and can remember that it was really easy on the belt side of the engine.

The reason to do the water pump is because you are in the area, and for 30 quid it would be foolish to do the cam belt and have the water pump fail a couple of months down the road.
But then again, I am not familiar with the petrol engine either.

yes that is true about the water pump. The original one i took out had nothing wrong with it but i did it as a precaution. The original has very brittle plastic impellors compared to my new one that has cast impellors.
