I was wondering whether the software will work on the Ka seeing as it's the same car underneath?

I can speak from experience and say it does...however some areas are locked out and options are limited as it can tell it's not a Fiat, hope this helps
It's not listed as compatible and I doubt it will work. Software is easy to change to differentiate products. The software available for Fords will of course work with an ELM 327 interface so you don't hav to buy that again.
It's like the Croma / Vectra C power steering pumps, they are physically and electrically identical but the (much cheaper) Vectra pump won't work in a Croma because of different firmware (software permanently built into equipment). If I ever have pump problems I'm going to try a chip swap to see if I can overcome the issue. I've done this before to replace a Landrover Discovery remote CD changer with an otherwise identical Panasonic one that was a quarter of the price of the LR one. Only works for repairs as you need the chip with the firmware from the old unit (it's not normally possible to copy the chips)

Trying to get a really cheap newish Ka for my sister in law who is skint. Found I be that needs new dash and airbags so just wondered. Cheers.
