ANY Views on how reliable the new punto multiair engine is.
have read negative comments about it.
Is it reliable for say 150kmiles?
have read about one owner who had to get the multiair system replaced 3 times in under 3 years.

The mk2 and mk2b didnt get the multiair engines

They were in the punto evos and new 2014 onwards punto

Not sure if the grande punto go MA engines

Iirc the multiair engines are just vvt 16v engines

Or are we on about the 2 cylinder versions?

Ziggy

2 cyl is called TwinAir :)
But a MultiAir isn't just a VVT. There's no intake cam, so it's a bit more complicated than that. Main thing to be aware of is to use the correct oil, as the MA-module is quite sensitive. I'll also advise that the small oil filter in the MA-module is changed frequently (there's no service guide nor exchange frequency on this, but it's a 7-8€ filter, so it's not gonna break the bank (unlike the 2000€ MA-module when that goes south...)
