Hello Everyone!

I've got the lovely 500L 2013 1.6 diesel, but recently the fuel consumption gown down from avg 55 mpg to 38 mpg. No erroe msg and the Fiat service didn't find anything. Any advice, please??

Are you sure the beast just hasn't been doing a few DPF regens lately? If you've been driving around doing a lot of short trips and then suddenly go on a longer drive, the beast might have squeezed in a quick regen. It'll be more keen to regen if your trips are short and the weather is a bit parky, as it has been.

Is your fuel okay/the same as usual, or did you fill up from a random, run-down little village petrol station this time?

If you're just doing your usual usage with your usual fuel, then it could be "a problem";

If the car starts, idles and drives okay then I'd say the MAF sensor might be stuggling. They get covered in oily grime from the air intake and it's supposed to get burnt off by a heater circuit.. but eventually they loses their mojo. If you need a new MAF, fit a Bosch one only (they cost an arm and a leg more than a cheapo' one from China but that's because they actually work).

If the idle is a little lumpy, and the car hesitates a bit as you accelerate through 1300rpm (try accelerating through 1300rpm slowly, so you can feel what its doing)... then it may be the lambda sensor(s). As above, use a Bosch or NTK (NGK) replacement with a built-in connector plug, not a cheapo one that has no plug and you have to splice it to your existing plug... unless you like replacing lambdas on a wet/windy weekend, obviously.

I'm not sure what else can affect mpgs and the car still behaves reasonably normally. It'll be one of those.
