Does anyone have any suggestions to how to securely mount a phone (for use as a Satnav) in a 2006 dynamic Grande Punto - to replace a failing Tomtom.

I found mounting the Tomtom difficult due to the low slope of the windscreen, combined with no suitable flat areas on the dash. In the end I cobbled something together to hold it by the right hand side triangular corner window.

Ideally I would like to mount the phone on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. Phone holders are easy to obtain, but the problem is how to fix them to the curving dash. Would silicone sealant or adhesive work? Is it possible to put small holding screws through the dash without drilling into something underneath? Given the age of the vehicle and the importance of a satisfactory means of holding a phone near, but not blocking my vision of the road, I am not too worried about cosmetic damage to the dash.

Any comments appreciated.

eBay ... Adhesive disc, peel off backing paper and stick where you like. Did mine yesterday. £1.95.

further to my previous reply it is listed as ' 2 pcs dash disc plate for satnav -gps'.
It's a hard shiny disc just larger the suction pad on the mounting. Very stable and secure.
