well im in the process of doing my motorbike tests and loving it. i will hopefully have the full license soon. i am therefore determined to get a motorbike as well as the car as for the first time in 3 years im going to commute to uni so a motorbike would be handy somedays. thinking something around 400cc. just wondering if any of yous knew of any good insurers for both of them combined to see if i could bring the total premium down. just wondering if any of yous have any suggestions? ive already tried a few and so far not overly great quotes

aye i tried them for a quote. i heard a few people say they were cheap but bennetts was a bit cheaper. quoting me around 800-900 for either zxr400 or sv650. would the insurance drop much if i did it over the phone and declared the 33bhp restrictor kit?

A YEAR
being young just isnt good, the money i pay for insurance each year is shocking. im really hoping i can get some sort of deal with combining the two. i dont know how often ill be using the bike tbh
looked into pay as you go insurance. costs near the same a month as yours does a year for me :(

is there any insurance companies that will offer combined insurance for both my car and bike under one premium. i cant find any :(

carol nash...
im 20. license 3years. have a suzuki 350 thats 300 to renew with quinn next week (only 3ed party)

BUT ive been given a BSA A65 its not ready for the road at the min but im going to insure it anyway. Carol nash said £112 fully comp for the A65 with my suzuki as a second bike!. WELL chuffed!

I had a old honda xlr 125 (JUST old enough to be a classic) when I was 17 on L plates. that was with carol nash to. think it was about £180 fully comp! and after I passed my test they let me put my aprilia 350 on for just £30 (admin charge)

Wish I had kept my honda and just insured it to get cheap insurance on my other bikes

lol
It was my grandads.
He started to restore it years ago but lost intrest (well ability to ride a bike)
so it has sat in a shed for the last 5 or so years. the chrome has gone crappy but lucky the tank and covers where kept in the house so there perfect (had them painted just before he lost intrest)

Its got an electric ignition system fitted to it. Still A git to start tho! and the sparks are leaking into the frame some how (ouch). Once I get the tank and panels fitted (need to find the fuel taps) and remove the ****ty jap indicators my grandad fitted. it should look OK.

sounds nice mate...dont forget to post a pic or two when you can(y)

Just got back from my nans to do some work on my cinq project so but the tank and panels on the bike and took a couple of pics. (y)

also took a couple of what dad was given :yum:

the clutch cover on the bsa is loose on the pics because I just fitted a SRM clutch pressure plate.
the bike seems to be fine(other then electrical bugs) it just dont look all that great. altho once i get rid of them UGLY indicators it will be loads better.

Oh and the bsa is an american import. (which i find funny as it was made down the road sent half way around the world only to come back to near where it was made)

my mates will be taking the **** out of me when they see me riding a bike twice my age haha

Thats nice mate, I had the similar styled but smalled engined B25 which had a loose clutch (primary chain casing) cover....thing is I was halfway up the M6 at the time & it dumped oil all over the rear tyre which made for interesting handling:eek:

Dont knw if your a member but theres a good bike forum here;

Worry not about the foolishness of the callow youth (No offence) you will be riding a piece of true motorcycling legend. It looks great, but, those apehangers will have to go. They were obviously fitted in a fit of early '70s madness. With that seat it cries out for some ace bars and rear sets. You do realise though that you can't ride it wearing one-piece Dainese race leathers. It's got to be a silver pudding basin p**s-pot along with a black leather jacket with diagonal zip, high leather boots and trawlermen's socks turned over the top of the boots. Oh, and don't forget the Wrangler jeans.

Exactly why I had it instead of letting them ebay it.
I dont think there is many people my age who will ever have the chance to ride a bike like this.

yes I will need a new set of bars  dad told me when they go it the bars where even worse then the ones fitted!

I would like to get a twin carb setup for it to release some real power:yum: but dad said there a dog to set up and the effort it takes aint worth it.

I know this sounds bad but I want to use it to go to college and back every day. about 10miles each way. I would you my other bike but I really want to save it mainly for weekends and hillclimbes.

just thought i would leave a wee update as i finally sorted it all out

ended up having to go through two different companies on two different types of policies

the car (1.2 3dr stilo) is insured under quinn direct for just under £900 fully comp

and the bike ( suzuki bandit v 400) is insured under bikesure (adrian flux) for just over £300 third party only
