Hi people. I know the passenger airbag issue is well documented but in all the threads and replies it's stated that the modified wiring loom cost around a tenner from fiat. I have just phoned a dealership and been quoted £65. Has anyone else been quoted this price for a poultry two wires and some cable ties? Also I've read that these lights may come on if your battery isn't top notch (along with other minor issues), is there any truth in this? I have reset my sons 54 plate airbag light via the fiat ecu scan software but the lights come on more regularly now so looking to sort the issue more permanently. I appreciate that £65 is cheap compared to life but I am wondering how the price has gone so high for so little.

These cars are getting old now and passed the point that the manufacture has any obligation to keep a stock of genuine parts, it could be as simple as to order one now they would have to have one made, it is only a couple of wires but without a production line for such a part making short runs of essentially bespoke parts gets very expensive.
Also it could be your dealership is ripping you off or quoting a fitting charge in that figure.
If you've reset the code in mes it will tell you where the fault lays and with this fix the fault needs to be with the passenger side airbag isolation switch intermmitant or inconsistent voltage the other way to fix this in the absence of the correct wire is to take the earth from that switch and separate it from the dash wiring loom and connect it directly to is on ground somewhere on the car body. This is what the wiring kit does it gives he switch it's own earth separating it from all the noisy electronics also sharing that earth in the dash loom

Thanks for the reply. I've watched your video and have thought the only difference from the modded wire and original is the earth and wondered if it was possible to cut and join the earth wire and refitting it elsewhere. The error is the passenger side switch that shows on your video. Would the battery be a cause for this to keep happening do you know?
People like to blame the battery a lot and it's not impossible but you'd get a battery low voltage error
Ok thanks. I'm having a quick look at that wiring now. From the switch I have a orange and green wire and a brown and blue wire. Seems strange as I thought I'd see a pink one lol. Would you possibly know which was the earth in this case. Will it be a simple case of whichever one goes into the ecu it's the other one.

Iirc i oaid about 15£ from derby fiat when i quoted part number
I had to from north nottighamshire to derby in blistering heat and 3hr traffic jam
As airbags needed resetting daily.... i fitted kit and no issues ever since
I did try to trace where it went but never found it to be hinest.... it gos somewhere uo behind stereo and i gave uo and just tucked it away
Its something i will pull out when the car dies... as its getting a harder part to buy...

How long ago was that Ziggy? I've cut the earth wire and refined it to the car body so hope that may have some success if not I've lost nothing but time and feeling to my fingers lol. It's reset the light so fingers crossed when they come back to life.
