General Modern cars ????

Just returned from an unexpected dash to Manchester in the old 4x4 as the modern car is poorly with a seized NSR caliper. Made me wonder if any of today's new cars will be in serviceable condition 27 years hence ?
Somehow, I think not judging by the widespread use of electronics and the general cost of maintaining DPF's etc
Thank goodness for the simplicity and durability of the Panda...

I doubt it very much. Every time I see a modern car broken down I sing "and the panda marches on" to myself

My previouse job saw me driving the country every day in my selecta. The amount of.brand new expensive cars in the hardshoulder was laughable. I covered nearly 12k in 6 months she never missed a beat.

I agree but it is laughable qhen in this day and age a car will completely shut down because ofa faulty Tyre pressure sensor.

I wonder if in 10 years time we will be having the same convo on here, but then all the modern cars will be fully automated, lost and driving throigh fields and rivers hehe clear roads for panda trips.

only dealerships will get to see the BSoD... and they will charge you £250 to tell you they don't know what's wrong with it, but have changed a sensor at a cost of another £100... and all they can do is try changing one thing at a time...

Thinking about what you guys discussed so far, it wouldn't surprise me if in the future whilst most consumerists of that era will merely 'accept' what is norm in terms of functionality, practicality,carbon foot prints, with the styling, practicality and fun aspect dumbed down, effectively electronic toys on wheels with an engine etc, whether people who'll still own 'old classics' will have to pay more insurance in the future because they'd be deemed a risk to other road users, because they haven't opted to buy an A.I.- car powered by Thorine that 'does the driving for you'? :yuck:, which has been hinted at a few times over the years, deemed a lot safer for society=nations of sheep...
