Mk2 115 CV joint issue

Just had the car in the garage as the CV joint(s) are knocking. Man at garage says he has tried everything to source the part from his suppliers but has had no luck. He says the design is unusual as the circlip holding the joint to the shaft is inside the shaft rather than outside. Apart from going to Fiat for the part, are the joints for the 115 MK2 really that hard to find?

would it not be easier just to buy a complete driveshaft and fit that? say from a scrappy for half the price dealer charges.
