Misting Up

What with all the rain we've been having lately, my Bravo seems to be misting up quite a bit. It looks like I'm 'on the job' whilst driving!

I've set my controls to the settings on the back of the sun visor but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

Is cold or hot air best for clearing windscreens? And does it depend on the outside temperature?

I've had the same problems with mark I bravos, it's also usually worse when the insides of the windows are dirty - that film of grease from the sun etc. Hot air normally does the trick but I always seem to have to switch between front windscreen and cabin flow to stop the door windows or front window from misting up :) For some reason I don't get any of these problems with the mark II bravos.

Play misty for me...

I think mine is a MKII (T plate)? Anyway, I did try cleaning the insides of the windows, but it doesn't seem to help. I do have a/c whether that would make any difference at all?

Re: Play misty for me...

Mine works fine (with A/C) - sounds like moisture is
getting inside you car or your air-con is not working
properly and dispensing of stuff through the condenser.
Might be worth getting your air-con looked at.

pollen filter

u might consider changing the polen filter too, that should help

Cheers

Filter

My 72k service is due soon, is that filter normally changed on 72K or is it another 'extra'.

Thanks

a/c

I heard this trick from a volvo dealer to help pro-long a/c systems.

Run the a/c on it's coldest setting for 30mins and then on it's hottest setting for 30mins. It's suppost to kill all the bacteria that grow in the system and keep it running more efficiently.

Can get uncomfortable though!

filter

not sure, check with your service schedule. Its easy to do yourself anyway, but dont buy one from Fiat, try a motor factor. Prob be about half price. Or u could just throw the old one way and do without.

cheers

Hot is best.....

....But you must have your fresh air/recirculate switch in the fresh air position. If it keeps misting up then you may have a leak somewhere (or you leave wet coats in the car!).

Air conditioning is good for demisting as it removes humidity from the air.

Misting

May sound like a stupid question, but have u had the windscreen replaced recently ?
Reason I ask is coz the same thing was happening 2 me when I 1st got my HGT and the dealer had fitted a new screen, but unfortunately it hadn't been sealed right and hence caused the screen 2 mist up badly in all weathers with no effect from the blowers.

Just a thought :)

Rob.

windscreen

I've recently had a new windscreen in my mk1 HGT and it suffers really badly from misting.
It could be the seal as when the car is moving at speed you can hear air coming in somewhere on the passenger side, although it doesn't seem to let in water.
I've tried running silicon sealer around the inside and outside of the screen but this hasn't stopped it. Any ideas?
