Anyone ever used Meguairs 3 step cleaning?

Friend of mine swears by it.

Want to give the car a good proper clean on my day off tomorrow.

Think it consists of a pre-polish treatment, polish then wax

I normally go with the megs NXT wash, then the megs quick clay and the 3 stage thing and then when i cant be arsed and just need to boost the wax use the NXT tech wax.

well i aint done the three step thingy but i used the polish today and it is absolutely astounding. i say if ya have time gor for it and see the results for yourself.

brilliant.

thats not to say that autoglym does not still get a full thumbs up from me. they both fantastic products.

I have a wide selection of car care stuff including the Megs 3 step system. To be frank I wasn't that impressed, Seemed a lot of work for nothing more than ok results.

The last product I used on my Alfa was Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine which I given for free and was happy with the results.

The actual products you use make little difference from any other it is the way you apply it. Some of the best results I've achieved were using a Wilko £1.99 colour restorer on a rotary polisher and soft foam buffing pad. When I sold the car a mechanic told the new owner it was the cleanest Megane he'd seen and was completely swirl free (those little scratches you see in bright sun) and it was 8 years old and never previously polished.

I'm not going to recommend a particular product because I don't want to be a big up fan boy because it is a particular brand. If I was you I'd stick to a 2 stage polish and wax - buy a good light abbrasive polish and a wax to apply once you've finished polishing.

From what i have seen and heard apparently depends on the colour of your car as well some products make certain darker or lighter colours come out better etc.

So what might be good for a light coloured car might be crap for a darker coloured car. Seemed to notice this when i had my Silver clio the finish i got was loads better much deeper shine than the red i have now using the same products.

Not to say i still dont get a great shine from it.

THis stuff is good too, seems better suited to darker colours. At the end of the day I think a lot of it is psychological, most polishes can only do so much and you just imagen one to be better than the other and I fully agree that its the care and effort you put in just as much as the product....

....but I'd still go for Meguiars :p
