I'm thinking about building a sub enclosure but I wanna do a good job on it, what tool would you use to cut a perfect circle?

Generally I'd attack it with a jigsaw but I'd like a better finish.

For the perfect circle, tie abit of string to a pencil and pin it to the centre of where you want your hole cut, measure half the size of the sub you are fitting before securing in place and you should draw a perfect circle for you sub.

So if the sub is 12" make the sting 6".

Sorted!

I know how to draw a circle (one of my degrees is in engineering), it's the cutting I'm thinking about. Was having a look about the net, gonna have a look at routers at the weekend in preparation.

I've got some big plans for the tractor

Is lowering one of the tractors plans? only joking man... seriously though with regards to making a box I think my dad must have at least one router here if you require one. Also you'll need to look into the physics of building the box as obviously it shall require the correct amount of space etc to let the sounds rebound correctly... blah blah

More maths!!! I'm thinking about attempting this come summer time - mainly cause I'm brassic just now, but I'd like to be prepared. Better get the measuring tape out :D

The last bit of MDF i cut I used a jigsaw with a fine blade, but you need a steady hand to get a perfect circle.

I've got a steady hand just not steady patience

I wouldn't use a jigsaw. Too hard to control so you would end up with more of an octagonal circle.

I belive the pro's use Routers as they have perfect controll.

Where are you going to put the sub? I wouldn't think it would work that well in a saloon?

It'll be going in the boot either to the sides or behind the seat - preferred choice. I don't think a saloon would be that different to a hatchbatch since bass is omni-directional, plus I'm planning on having 2 12's + 2 amps so the power shouldn't be an issue.

Will see how my during the summer months :D
