Hi, im looking at these as a possibility in the new year, how reliable are they? its the 2.0 ELX R reg 97, its going for £1995 61,000 miles 3owners and service history, just been looking at parkers and it says it should be closer to £1k mark. is this one over priced?

Its at a fiat specialist garage and also comes with 12months MOT, full service and warranty.

Depends if the cam belt has been changed recently. If so that can add a few hundred onto the price. Also remember you pay a premium for buying from a garage. Parkers tends not to take into account things like warranty and servicing. Do you trust the dealer to honor the warranty?

i have used the garage before, i bought, the cinq i had, and my dad bought the tipo he had from there in 1994, its been around since 1930 so i do trust them! not sure about cam belt,when are they due for a change? and how much are they to change?

very over priced, they sell for peanuts them, you usaly get a lot of car for the money, less than 1k for ones like that on ebay

Due to the size of the engine its either an engine out job or a shuffle about on the engine mounts job... You can get quotes anywhere from around 300 to 1000 for that.

Not sure of the belt change interval but wouldn't leave it more than 50 or 60k

Cam belt should be changed at 72k service or every 5 years according to fiats reccomendations. however I would not leave it much more than 60k to have it changed.
p.s. I bought my 2.0l hlx weekend on an 02 plate for £3500 with 47,000 on the clock.

Bought an R reg 2.0 20v HLX saloon for £1100 from a garage - and that was almost a year ago. Tis overpriced.

I have Just Got a Marea 2.0 ELX, R Reg, Metalic Siler blue, with
Air Con, alloys, electric windows, Climate control, Ready for the CD Changer, and 6 Months MOT, includes 6 months TAX, It will have a service before its sold.

Service history up to 2003, timing belt changed 2002 74k, last service 87K
Car is at 110K the engine runs like it was new.

Only one dent on the top of the boot small, and does have one red and two blue keys...
