Hi folks!

My wife has a Marea, 19jtd weekend estate,on a W plate.... This morning one front wiper has died... The passenger side. I think it is in the spindle that it has gone wrong.

I know how to remove the wiper motor etc (wonderful thing a search facility!), but can anybody tell me if the Brava Bravo rack will be a straight swap? There arent many Mareas up here (Sutherland), but I have seen a few Bravos/Bravas in the breakers yard.

I am not 100% sure what has broken, as I havent stripped it out yet, I thought I would see if I can find a spare part for it first.

I can't think of any reason why a Bravo/Brava wiper won't fit. As far as I can tell, the front wipers are identical across the range, except for the controls on the stalk.

Thanks for that...

I have also asked Scotty if his wiper rack (and the motor..you never know) is still available just in case somebody has had the one from the breakers.

The yard I use is okay, but they have a nasty habit of crushing stuff quite quickly, or piling it sky high...LOL.

Well, It looks like the motor is burnt out too...so I'll definitely be needing that. It is of course raining here, and I have a roadside garage..LOL. So Havent stripped the plastic covers off above the plenum chamber as yet, so not closely inspected.

Is the bit the wiring loom plugs into part of the motor itself, or is it a control box that I'll have to get seperately?

I do have the fiat technical assistance manual for marea/brava/bravo..but its a bit like the good old Haynes books. Vague. (always wrecks me.."Fitting is reverse of removal." Okay...does that mean you unskin your knuckles when you refit the parts?.... You must excuse my sense of humour..it is rapidly turning into one of those weeks.)

Just to confirm,

The bravo/brava rack and wiper motor does indeed fit. I got one in a breakers yard this morning.

The arm had come off the passenger side spindle,(due to wear on the spindle, so grease them up folks) and had got caught, which burnt out the motor.

Simple fix, hardest part was getting the wiper arms off, I used a three legged bearing puller for that. Bit of copper slip on the spindles when replacing, so easier next time (hope there wont be a next time)No need to remove the entire plenum chamber cover, drivers half is fine, and only three nuts or allen screws holding the rack in.

Thanks all.

Arty if you lift the wipper arm up from the window, talking the load from the spring the arm just slide's of .
Scotty.
