hello just read proplems with boot locks simple fix completly strip down everything including key lock clean with brake cleaner and reassemble with a good covering of lithium based grease did it to a completly rusted and seized tailgate 6months ago still works like new cost £2.50 wont be disapointed cheers hope it helps works on door handles too

Although be careful with brake cleaner and rubber parts...

Cheers for the tip, oh you might want to strip and clean your rear wiper shaft while you've got the tailgate opened up.
