Marea vs Bravo - Various Differences

Hi,

I noticed a Marea today, that had smoked indicator lenses (the side repeaters). It also seems to have different headlights to the Barvo too.

Obvuiously there are lots of more obvious things too like the grill and the overall body shape, but I wondered if anyone else has noticed these small things like the side repeaters and the headlights?

What are the differences, and is it possible to swap the parts over? What is the advantage? As obviously the Marea is more luxurious.

Also whay didn't they fit body-coloured door handles to the Barvo but they did ont he Marea?

Seems odd. Can they be swapped over too?

Search in this case is very much your friend :)

All the parts you mention are interchangable - Brava/o and Marea share the same floorpan/wheelbase, windscreen, bonnet (and lower doors pressings in the case of the Brava)plus a whole lot of smaller parts.

Marea, (and Bravo HGT only) front wings are different and are flared to fit their wider track and also have the 'teardrop' smoked side repeaters. The 20v big-engined cars also get larger front brakes/wheels and rear disks, with modern 'projector style' headlights on the Mareas.

Main reason that the Marea got all the best stuff was simply because it was sold as a larger and more expensive car when new and more readily competed with other medium sized saloons/wagons of the time like Vectras rather than the Astra-sized Brava/o.

oh. Sorry for being late! I've just got my HGT so i'm excited to see what changes I can make!

Does anyone know the Fiat par number for the Marea side-repeater please?

Do they use clear, or Orange bulbs?

They look a lot nicer than the Bravo's ORANGE ones!!

What about the door handles - Is that just a straight swaop? Does anyone know the part numbers of those?

thanks all, and sorry again for asking dumb questions :(

its easier to get them from a marea thats breaking usually plenty in the scrap yard, the side repeaters use orange bulbs, the handles are also easy to change just fiddly i think, there is a guide on here somewhere to do it. other popular upgrades are the center console and the front headlights.

Side repeaters...?

Its the headlights you need. Search for polyeliptic headlights from Marea ELX/HLX - prices vary from £30 to £80 per pair. There is also a guide in here for installation. Most will agree its the best mod you can give a bravo/a.

I've got a pair of smoked side repeaters from my 2001 Marea you can have for a modest sum if you want, (I changed mine to clear) - email me at [email protected] if interested.

Also note that although the big-engined Marea 'poly' headlights are undoubtedly an improvement over the cr*p standard ones, they still are'nt as good as the lights on some other cars - even with better bulbs fitted, (unless you also go for an HID conversion, which puts things in a different leauge)

carol, i'm very interested. can we be in touch?

thanks
