Can Anyone advise the amount I'm likely to get if I take my Marea 1.8 to the breakers?I don't think it will pass its MOT this time as there is a loud clonk from the rear end when going over bumps(sub-frame bushes?).I would put it on ebay for spares because the engine and gearbox are fine but can't be bothered with the hassle and yes I will be sorry to see it go.

def wont be much from breakers mate..stick on ebay, spares or repairs.

Car is in Derby. It has 95K on the speedo with service history to 40K. I bought it in 2004 and have taken it up to 95K. I change the oil every 6 months and changed the cam belt 45K.

it is ,but breakers have lots of overheads. they have to dispose of oil and other fluids, tyres, etc, also they have to ensure that vehicle complies with dvla regulation and insurance companies. not just as simple as taking it to them and them leaving it there in yard.

and from all the weight whats on the car as soon as the tyres and rubber and interior trim etc etc comes off theres not really that much weight left!

put it on Pistonheads for £100. Someone may benefit from it as spares.

Ade is correct the scrap yard that stores cars for a while do have a fare bit of overheads.

But the simple answer to that is,take to the same place he puts his,there will be a metal recycling plant not more than 20 mile's from the scrap yard and in most case's it's in the same City/town.

Expect £110/120 from the scrap yard man,take it to plant yourself and expect £190/220.

Cut out the middle man.
