General Marea querries.

Hey i'm new in here and just wanted to pick your brains about Fiat Marea's.
1: I want to buy a second hand one,what price should i realistically be paying
for an R reg motor?
2: I've noticed that they don't come with cd players as standard,are they
easily modified if so how costly?
3: What signs should i be looking out for in this model?

You didn't say what model you wanted. There is a big difference between the price of a 1.6 petrol saloon and the 2.4 diesel weekend estate.

1. Need model to suggest price.
2. Need an adaptor to fit a standard head unit - costs upto £20 max.
3. Depends on what model you are wanting again.

Sorry i am looking for a 105 or 155 ELX model. I've seen them going for £850:00 to £1000:00 is this about right.

105JTD between £1000 - £2000 depending on condition/mileage

155 20v £1000 - £1500 depending on cambelt change time.

sadly yes the 20v's are on a fall probably makes mine near worthless

as for the HU you can buy a bravo/a CD head unit for £60-70 on ebay if you want the standard look.

20v's you need to make sure the cambelt, tensioners and waterpunp have all been changed, should be done by 60k at the latest.

damaged anti roll bar links can cause a squeek/rattle round corners, easy enough to fix.

airbag light being constantly on is a common problem and no it generally cant be fixed so dont worry about it

oh and try get one with the full leather interior its worth it

But of course i will be buying it secondhand and i won't know for sure whether the cambelt would've been changed but one just hope's that the seller has some kind of paperwork to prove this has taken place. You guys are making me scared to buy one because many moons ago my first car was a B reg Fiat Uno and the timing belt went and i had to pay around £450:00 and that was around 11 years ago.

you'd be looking at alot more on a 20v its about £400 to get the cambelt changed if you find a good place or goto motomech in birmingham.

just makesure paperwork is present.

probably but besides that its rare as hell! i only seen 3 with it in, one was a 2.4TD the other was a smashed up 20v and the other one..... well thats mine

Nothing wrong with the standard cloth seats, and rather than leather I'd recommend the velour seats. Nice and soft but don't burn your ass in the summer, freeze you in the winter and squeak each time you sit in them making you feel more guilty for eating that last slice of shortbread...

mine do none of that! advantage of being creamy-ish i guess

yes make sure cambelt done,and its a wonderfull drive . The best drive you can have in comfort and speed. A very under estemated car to everybody but fiat owners. so i suggest you check out the req faults reg by other m embers,,,,,,and still buy one, there good
