Marea owner needing help

Hope some one can help. My battery wasnt being charged so i jumped started the car. Being a muppet I put the jump leads on the wrong way round, only for a second.

I know have a Red battery dashboard light which i've been told is the alternator broke.

I'm hoping the alternator has a fuse that goes when thing like this happen rather than the alternator being broke.

If the alternator is shagged how easy is it to replace.

I guess you know why it's called jump starting now... when you do it wrong you sure as hell jump
