Marea lost key code?

A friend of mine has a Marea, it wouldnt start recently so it was towed to a garage and put on a diagnostic.
They said its lost the key code and advised her to get rid of the car for spares.
its a 2002 jtd 110 saloon she has red key and 2 blue.
Does anyone know if it's really no good now or can it be fixed?

course they can,dont scrap it
if she has the red key then take it to fiat where they can read the code off it.Think thats how it works? its about £60 i think..

Im almost sure it was a Fiat Garage it was taken to, perhaps the red key is faulty

Get tapping online, there are a few companies that specialize in cracking the ecu, they will also supply you with a new red key and a blue key and te car will
be back to normal,
base cost is about £60

Fiat Marea Weekend 2.0 20v HLX 147 83k and so far so good!

sounds like the garage dont know what they are ona about, if its a fiat garage put them to shame and name them here.

take it to another garage..

yer as Robin says,there is a company who you ship your ecu off to for £60 he'll crack the code for you..Cant think off top of my head who it is,someone on here posted a link a while ago tho

Im not sure why people keep going on about key codes? this garage sounds like a shower of shi* keys dont just stop working, it will not be key related, if it is i will eat my hat! take it to a different garage, where are you in the uk, im sure someone can recomend a better place...
