The air con has never worked on my 1997 R Reg Fiat Marea 2.0 HLX Weekend since I bought the car 2 yeras ago! Can this be related to the external temperature gauge which has always responded with 'Error CLi'? I followed a previous thread that involved twiddling the air con dials, and 'error 34' came up, which I believe is related to the wiring. I can't find any sign of the black dimple underneath the driver's wing mirror however.

Any ideas as to what the best course of action is? Much appreciated.

Geoff

As i understand it the air con needs to know the outside temp so it knows where it's starting from.
I wonder if the previous owner has changed the drivers side mirror for a std. one.
My 99 HLX sensor is on the underside of the mirror so i think yours should be the same.
Just replaced the front pipe on mine, then had it leak tested and recharged for £65 + vat now super cool (hope the weather lasts long enough to justify it)

Not sure if they are related. My ELX's external temp sensor is on the underside of the drivers mirror also. Maybe its been replaced with a Bravo/a mirror as they do not have the sensor.

Might be worth getting the system checked for leaks, as if it's never worked there might be numerous problems with the system.

What I will say is that it is well worth the time, money and effort as the Marea has a very powerful AC sytem and gets the whole Weekend down to a comfy temp quick even when its 30 degrees outside! (y)

The Bravo does have the sensor under the mirror as mine has one. So i can assume the Brava does too. You wont have a sensor if the car doesn't have air con.

Thanks for the advice so far! The wing mirror situation is puzzling, the car definitely has air con as it's an HLX and all the appropriate dials/buttons are in place. I'm not sure if any previous owner replaced the wing mirror but it looks original enough, although there is no evidence of a sensor on the underside of the mirror.

All said, I think i'll get the AC checked over by a specialist. Can anyone recommend one in the Cardiff/Pontypridd area?

Cheers
Geoff
