Marea Heating System

I have a Marea 2001 20v with air con and automatic temerature control
The heating system is useless, it is either hot or cold after a 10-15 mile drive. On short journeys it seems OK till it heats up. Fiat have had it 3 times for this problem and say that there is nothing wrong. Is it just a useless Fiat problem?
Has anyone else got similar?
Help

New Question

I guess I should have asked is there anyone who has a Marea HLX and the heating works correctly????

Thanks in anticipation

Re: New Question

I have an HLX Marea, and the temperature control works fine on Auto. I find that I have to have it on a fixed speed setting for the first few miles, and then switch to Auto and it is fine. I do always run with it on the screen& footwell setting though, if that makes any difference.
Does your outside temperature gauge work ok?
Is the small fan behind the interior temperature sensor working ok? (located in between the aircon and the recirculation switch). I cannot feel any air comming through mine, but according to the Fiat coupe workshop manual (official fiat one - it runs the same system as the marea), there is supposed to be a small fan there to stop 'stale air' from sitting there giving false readings. May be a long shot.

Mine gives me another problem, that of filling up the ducting backing up to the fan with condensate (water) when the aircon is on. Not sure why it does this, and the FIAT dealer has not been able to fix it either....

Re: Re: New Question

Somethings to add...

For marea car....try to do this steps..for automatic diagnosis that allow errors to be read via the control panel display when enabled to be read external temperature (depend on model...as for my car it can be read through this to display the error code. (possible faults thru code on display).
1. Setup the following condition
-temperature knob on "HI"
- distribution knob on "MAX DEF"
- ventilation knob on "0"

2. Turn the key from STOP to MAR

3. Within 10 seconds turn the ventilation knob through the following sequence:
"0" - "AUTO" - "0" - "AUTO" - "0"

If any faulty ...control unit will send a series of messages...for example it appears "12"...
The code number I will elaborate later...If interested.
