Hi.
I need a new glass or a complete new left headlight for my Marea 1997 ELX.
I have been looking at my local scrapyard but it not that easy.
The headlight is a VALEO and the price for a new glass is around 100£!
Does anyone know if it possible to fit an other headlight or do it have to be a Valeo (to match the right side headlight)?

Michael

Either you get another pollyiptical headlight from the scrapyard or you get a normal Bravo/a Marea headlight and everything will work bar the sidelight. I'd guess this could be a suitable alternative to get you by for a while, if you wanted the sidelight to work you'd need to wire it into the side light connector block.

Where abouts are you anyhow perhaps someone can help.

A hundred pounds for a glass is insane! Keep looking at scrappys - even if you get a light with broken mounts it is easy to open the lamp and replace the glass only.

BTW - MM's idea is not that bad - otherwise you can just make the "glass" out of a plastic bottle and scotch tape (that's what we did ages ago with my friend's Omega).

When i got my first polly the guy had 2 different headlights in his car, 1 polly 1 standard, he'd had an impact on the side the polly came out of as it was a marea sx and had obviously just got a polly to replace the broken headlight.

So he could see where he was going in the dark - providing it was a left hand corner? :D

Finally i have found a Valeo headligth on a scrappy:) ... price 40£(n)
Anyway i need it to pass the Danish version of MOT Test (every 2. year).
I hope it easy to replace...

Yup just pop your old one out, and put your new one in the same place. You may need to get them realigned as who no's where the last person had it set. Obviously you would normally mark against a wall or something then adjust to previous level. So you should do that, even if only 1 works and adjust the flat spot to match with the 7mm hex.
