For those with Brava/o's who've gone to the lengths of changing the tatty old door handles, just wondering what I should do.

Managed to source a set of rear marea handles (and I've got RCL so delock time) Now, what Im wondering is should I have some kinda failsafe for entry to the car (ie a release button hidden somewhere discreet) and also what about maybe keeping things subtle, with matt black handles rather than colour coded? Just a wee thought I've had over the last few days.

Some sort of fail safe (that isn't a brick ;) ) that will allow entry is a must IMHO, I'm not a fan of entirely keyless entry.

I wonder..... could you rig the master central locking off the lock on the tailgate (if there is one) and have the handles with 'smoothed out look' on the fronts:confused:

There is a lock on the boot, but ATM it doesn't work (to the best of my knowledge)

To be fair, these days my boots less cluttered than it used to be. Assuming I can repair the lock, entry (in emergency) could be gained via the boot surely? I'm really not sure how much hassle rigging up the CL would be?

It would be a challenge ;)
Suspect you'll have to replace the rear lock if it's done the 'usual' thing of filling with salt and crap off the roads. It may clear up by physically removing the barrel and soaking it in penetrating oil for a week :idea3: This has worked for me in the past, but it's a hassle :(

I suppose another alternative - rather then a release button - what about an accessible +ve and -ve terminal under the car somewhere (with a cover of course) so that you can connect a battery if the main car battery fails and still use the RCL.

i never finished my marea handles when i had the brava but i took the ridge of them and looked ten times better

Back in the day before remote central locking. My dad had a 64 Ford Pop that was dehandled. soleniods in the doors and a tiny hidden switch in the wheel arch to pop the doors.

A similar system coupled with an external 12V input socked would cover both options of flat battery and key fob failure.

if your gonna go for the door solenoidsim pretty sure you must have an external switch for MOTS that enables access to the inside of the car and then youve got the hassle of smoothing the doors once you have removed the handles
