Marea engine timing

Hi - my 1.8 ELX Marea is ticking over a lot faster when idle (around 1500-2000 rpm) or alternatively revving back and forward between 1500-2200 rpm independently when sitting idle at traffic lights etc.

My mechanic cleaned out the valves and this has had a minor impact - the problem remains. Is this electrical by any chance (sunroof also has stopped opening!) - excuse the complete ignorance.

Revving Marea

Hi, I had the same probs with my marea. It was the throttle idle valve and stepper motor! Just take it off, clean it with carb cleaner and a quick spray of wd40 before refitting. Hey presto no more revving!!

I did this two weeks ago and had no probs since then
