I've just purchased a 1999 Marea 1.8 ELX.

Having read all the postings regarding the installation of the CD player, I'm still a bit confused. Under the rear seat in mine I can see the central locking control box with three cables plugged in. Coming from the same part of the wiring harness is what appears to be a multipin plug, this is clipped to chassis but it does pull off. Is this the connector for the CD player or something else? I'm a bit worried about various comments that Fiat stopped putting the cable in around 1999, some people have suggested that it's tucked away in the boot somewhere!!

I can see the letterbox in the chassis, but is there really enough room with the wiring harness poking through it? Also how do you fix the player down, some posts have suggested velcro strips, others that there should be a fixing kit with the player.

Finally, there's been alot of conflicting views about preouts on head unit. Mine's got the 'High' version with six speakers and according to my manual there are line outs and booster/amp switching on connector C. Are these not wired up or is it just the 'purists' saying there's no RCA outputs.

Any assistance would be appreciated?

cd changer and line-outs

There are different radios in the Marea. The newer series, which you have, has line-out at the back of the ISO-connector and remote on/off for the amp. I'm not sure the cable is there...
