hi guys punto 2006 1.3 diesel having a total night mare with it. code for the map sensor has re-appeared even after fitting a genuine new bosch one. also when you start it the engine starts to hunt and smoke lightly blue smoke and wont rev over 5000 rpm any suggestions please

Blue smoke = Oil

Oil is been burnt somewhere
either via a dying turbo
A leaky stem valve *usually only on startup*
A set of failing piston rings

Not revving over 5000 doesn't sound to bad, its a diesel, not a petrol
I dont know the rev limit of the diesels though - i suspect its near 5K

Whats the actual fault code that is been produced?

hi ziggy the car is diesel but i cured it the other day it was flying then i went to start it next day and same again.it sounds like its sucking air cos as you know if diesels suck air they hunt and burn blue smoke as ive had this on other diesels. now the only thing i did is someone said on here charge a bit of air into the actuator pipe to see if the little arm moves and it did but i think i put to much through could i have blowen the diapham in the actuator. the codes i have is poo69 map and i have been struggling with this other one for ages which is po641 pd generic sensor voltage open circuit A AND THE SAME AGAIN BUT WITH OUT THE P.D ALSO THE NEW MAP SENSOR HAS CODE
0261230052 and my origianl code map sensor had code 0 281 002 510 but i think there compatible

p0069 - Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor/barometric pressure (BARO) sensor - correlation

What i find odd is - there is no wiring diagram for a MAP sensor, only a MAF

P0641 Sensor reference voltage A - open circuit

This makes me think there is a relation between the 2 codes

how do you mean a relation between the 2. that code my diagnostic brought up what you said manifold absolute pressure. i have tried three map sensors and still brings up the code. what do you suggest next because i have ran out of ideas .

im not sure how to do the test.could you give a brief description.thanks

Correlation is the its relation to something else

Its saying it dont match up with its partner in crime

------

Continuity testing has to be done with a multimeter
Its checks the resistance down the wiring to tell you if its open circuit or high resistance or okay

Some multimeters beep when there us a circuit, which is handy :)

hi spoke to a garage today they recon the code p0069 manifold absolute pressure could be stopping on even though i fitted a new due to a leaking inlet manifold. as this engine had the timming chain break last year and all was fixed of a cost of 800 pounds. so whats ur thoughts on this before i take it off and refit new gasket.

The manifold leak can cause many faults

hi guys i think the problem is the egr valve as it dont do nothing when i take the connector off.plus the car is hunting and which if this has gone wont this affect the pressure in the manifold.so ive brought a blanking plate so will let you know how i get on
