Styling Lowering springs

Ryan,

If it's body roll you want to reduce then the cheapest way to solve the problem is to fit a turbo anti-roll bar. Only problem is finding one! Keep an eye on Ebay and look for someone scrapping a Uno Turbo.

Oh yes, and as has already been mentioned on this thread DON'T fit springs meant for a turbo unless it is for a diesel or the old type non FIRE OHC equipped car. The FIRE and OHV engine are much lighter, and the turbo springs will have the front of the car riding way too high.

thanks for that....not seen anything on ebay yet :( thought about going to the scrappie seeing if he had anything....what kind of prices you think they'd want?

I paid £20 for an anti roll bar plus brackets, private sale, from a guy in Essex who was breaking a turbo. For another £20 I also got the interior plus everything else I wanted to take! If I had known people on here were looking for suspension stuff I would have taken the uprated struts and springs as well...

Occasionally you see someone advertising that they are breaking a turbo on Ebay. Get in quick because some bits go very rapidly. There are also a couple of Ebay traders who are breaking Fiats, but I forget their names. One guy always advertises 'Fiat Uno Spares - Look no Further!'. Use 'Ask seller a question' and see if he has what you need.

Also check some of the people who are always advertising Fiat spares, as they could well have a Uno turbo in for breaking. Go through the listings and you'll see who I'm talking about.

Other than that try 'Loot', or keep an eye open on the classifieds. You'll find one sooner or later.

I've just won a brand new setup of springs & shocks on ebay for £70 by a company called JR Suspension, although it will be a year or so before I get it all rebuilt to see what they're like!:)

this is a bit of an old thread, sorry to bring it up again but;

is it possible to lower an uno 1.0L with 15" alloys on it by 60mm? or will it interfere with the arch?
should i just settle for 40mm :(

cheers

It can be done , how wide are your alloys? I had 15x7s on 195/45 low profile tyres, i can tell you the front passenger side wheel will almost certainly scrub against the gearbox on full lock and the rear wheels will rub the inner arch round corners turning fast and also if you have passengers in the back the arch lip will catch the tyres causing damage. If you get the inner arch lips cut off, add some bump stops and fit spacers it should sort the scrubbing problems out. You can also adjust the wheels to come out slightly more from underneath the car somehow, the garage did this to my uno for me.

They are 6" wide and back wheels rub on inside of the arch when passengers are in the back and going fast round corners! its not even lowered yet!

the front of the car is pretty low already and judging by what you said it sounds like a safer bet to settle for 40mm s/s.

I can relate. My Uno, lowered 60mm and with 195/45/15's was chaffing really badly at the rear. We rolled the arches a lot which basically fixed the problem - except for the right rear. Seems that its rubbing against the inside of the wheel-arch - not the outer bodywork as hoped.

I'm not sure what to do about it besides taking the car to a panelbeater. I mean, I could just take the wheel off and pound away with a hammer, but will that work out ok?

Comments?

should work out, im gonna do it to mine. only seems to slightly rub on the inside of my arch anyway so may only have to knock it back half a centemeter.
il tell you how it goes lol.

also got 40mm springs ready to fit. wanted 60mm s/s but theres physically only about 40-50mm space between wheel and arch.
