Hi guys bought some 17s for the grande there the multi jet rims, the car looks stupidly high still I thought upgrading from the 15s would do job I'm wrong though lol any idea how much lowering is ? Or what I can do to drop the height? Many thanks everyone

I have the 1.4 active sport 2006 i love the car now it behaves

replacing 15s by 17s will certainly NOT lower the car, unless you mount very low profile tyres. The 17s will just fill a bit the uggly gap between wheel arch and the wheels ...

I thought it would just fill the gap mate but was wrong is there anything I could do to lower it? I'm a novice when it comes to cars but the 1.9 mjet looks lower is there anything I can take from one of them if I find a scrap one about in order to lower at all thanks for your response mate

Hi Dave,

let's forget the tyre wall's size, the 17s has filled the gap by 1", but also lifted the car by 1", which looks even worse. There must be some place on the web where one can compare the ground clearance of various versions; if they were the same, that would mean the springs (or the spacers ?) length are different (shorter). As from ePer, only the two 1.3mjt version use the same part # for the springs, all others are different, maybe not just the length but also probably the stiffness...

Practically we should also consider the actual wheel dimension (depends on Ø, tyre width and height ratio) and the possibly higher weight of bigger engine, but to simplify let's leave that aside...

If you want to know the wheel Ø: for example 205/17/45, it would be (in cm): (20.5 x 0.9) + (17 x 2.54) or (rounded) 18,5 + 43.2 = 61.7 cm
