Technical Looking For a new exhaust

Im loking to get a new exhaust one with a sportier louder sound but not a stupidly fat one

The thing is i dont wann spend like 100 n odd quid on one as im a skint so im thinking of going to look in a scrap yard and ripping one off another car

What would i have to look for to make sure that it would fit my Punto andd all that stuff

please help as i have no idea what im going on about haha

well your probably find one of these cheapo univeral ones for about £30ish.

Oh please no more mods on the cheap. If you can't afford to do it properly don't do it. Your car will look like this:

Not only that cheap s**ty universal back boxes make you loose power not gain it FACT!. It will also lower resale value when you sell it on as it will project "I've been ragged and shagged" to any potential owners. Be realistic modifiing a 1.1 8v is stupid.

Yeh but when i sell it i can take off everything that i have done to my car

i just want an exhaust that i canb find in a scrapper i didnt say anything about a universal one that was someone elses suggestion

Univeral ones can fit but they can be a bugger too.. :bang: As you said yeah take a look about scrap yard but i would be looking with another punto mk1 so it will be a little easier to fit.. Better off saving your money and go with a supersprint something that wont loss you performance..

and when you say loss in performance what are you talking about? a noticible decrease in acceleration?

Spent mucho money on exhausts only to discover that Supersprint are worthwhile and the rest are ................... in comparison.

There is a ssprint exhaust for sale on psc for 150.

Cheap universal will mean a drop in power, driving round in something that sounds like a low flying plane and goes as well as a ped will soon embarass you to the point that you, look, feel and act like a pratt. That is because you have become one.

Usual result is a massive hole in midrange meaning you have to change gear all the time. You go vrooooom, vroooooooooooom slooooooooooowly. Hearing a quick car accerlerate is one thing. listening to a noisy car gradually drone from gear to gear is another.

Plus, by the time you've paid to have a universal exhaust put on properly you might as well have bought a direct fit one

If you really insist on making your car sound louder without spending too much money then leave the exhaust alone, you will ruin the car in more ways than you think.

Best bet would be to drill the airbox. It will make it much louder but hardly affect the performance at all. Best of all, it costs nothing.

Very chavvy way to do it but better than what you are thinking of doing so far.

i dont agree that all universal exhausts are **** at all! ive got 1 fitted to my punto mk2 and it hasnt made a difference to performance and it doesnt sound like a low flying plane either!
some of us dnt have the money to be buying powerflow systems or anything!

What we are trying to say is if you don't have the money don't do it.... all its going to do is ruin the car and neighbours hearing. Your really lucky getting one that isn't loud tbh.

well i must have gotten lucky then! id love to get a full exhaust system but as im only 18 insurance is enough as it is already! so this will have to do for now!
