Most times I apply the handbrake the hand brake light does not come on, but every now and again it does. Have checked the resivoir and pads on front are very good, want to check switch to see if sticky or knackered. Where is it and is it easy to replace ?

Hi

I have had exactly the same problem. The switch is under the leather cover at the base of the handbrake. The switch and the wire is quite obvious, it's near the cable adjuster. I took the switch off of the car, disassembled it and regreased it with copper grease, and it has worked faultlessly ever since.

Give it a go, you've got nothing to lose but your time.

Cheers

Thanks. My switch was a bit sticky, once a squirt of WD40 the spring switch was back in action. Got to be the easiest and quickest repair ever on a Fiat.(y)
