Gday,

Feeling fairly chuffed with myself this morning, I bought a 1999 Barchetta Limited Edition yesterday. I drove from a cold start all the way back to my house, a two hour drive, without any issues. Though when I drove it again later that day it was making a strange whiring noise every time I accelerated, which wasnt there before. I'll have to get that checked out.

Car is in pretty good condition, paint work has a few minor chips and the windows do not meet the soft top rubbers/seals very well so quite noisey to drive. But the inside is fantastic, makes you feel like your in a different place altogether.

Well thats all from the Newbie (y).

Welcome!

Great decision - especially with summer coming on!

Is it a silver & red LE like mine, I wonder?

Welcome to the forum Gasparini, (y)

The windows can be adjusted to meet the rubbers alternately whats most probably happened is that in the past, others have previously pushed the doors closed by the windows and this tends to snap the window guides.

When these break the window cannot close tightly up to the rubbers and makes this wind noise.

You can tell if they have broken by opening the door and with the window up, gently test/shake the glass, if there is movement then the guides have broke. There are two guides per side and the original fiat ones are weak and tend break easily but stronger and better guides can be bought from Henk(barchettaparts.com) although quite pricey at for such small items they do a fantastic job in eliminating the wind noise.

If the glass feels tight then they are in tact and just needs adjusting, the adjustment screws are to be found just behind the top door panel trim but try the test and let us know.

Further advice on how to remove the panels safely without breaking anything , replacing the guides or window adjustments can be found here so just let us know. (y)

Good luck with your new B and please post up some pics as soon as you can, its always great to see . :)

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your 'B'.

I notice another one in France, we are in the Gers, where are you?

Another new B owner in France. In the last two weeks I have come across two other new owners here in the Gers and have encouraged them to join this forum.

It's Drive It Day in the UK so make sure you all take out your little toys for a spin.

Hi All,

Thanks for all your great replys, wasnt expecting that.

The B I bought is Aubergine, with red interior (class, pimp ride).

To the French lads havent, got a clue were Gers is, but I'm living close to Metz (North East France, Lorraine).

KC3, thanks for all the tips regarding the softop, rubbers and windows. I already bought some gear from Henk, he's a good guy.

Sacallywag, first time I've ever been on a forum so have'nt really got a clue what I'm doing. I have a few pics on my iPhone so if you give me a crash course on how to get them on there, I will.

Cheers Lads, thanks for all the support,
Mr Gasparini(y)
