Styling Led fogs

Well I finally got round to fitting my replacement fog lights today, they have only been sat on my bench for 5 or 6 months! I have mounted them in the shell of the standard fogs, so the original wiring and adjusters can be utilised. I don't think they will be much use in fog, but I think they look good.

Well I'm Mr "Keep it as it came from the factory", but I really like them.

Mine are leaky and cracked and a rusty colour though, so I can't do this without getting new lenses.

Do they bother about fog lights for the MOT? Most cars don't have them, so I'd hope not.

I've never found fog lights help you to see in fog anyway - I'd guess the idea is to make you more visible, which undiffused LEDs certainly will, probably better than the originals.

It should pass without the fogs as mine were never connected when it left the factory. I got fed up complaining to the main dealer about it and then it passed 3 MOTs without them.

I finally got around to connecting them a few months ago (but I'd very much like to meet whoever designed the small "access" hatch) and whilst they work I've yet to find a use for them.

The LEDs look smart though - I'd be interested to know how much brighter they are than the standard lights.

I've never found fog lights help you to see in fog anyway

The idea is to light up the immediate side of the road, not much more.

Front fogs aren't part of the mot, regardless of whether they are factory fitted or not.
The reason that I replaced mine, was that one was cracked and slowly went rusty. All I did was carefully break the existing glass and remove it (its bonded in). The new fogs were a perfect fit in the remaining shell. A tip to easier access to the fogs is to remove the front grill and work from above.
I've not had a chance to try them out in the dark yet, but I'm pleased with how they look.
