Hi everyone,
This is my first post so hope I'm doing it right ?
3 weeks ago bought a Fiat Stilo 1.9 multijet.
It’s 7 years old and looks like new and has 138,000 kilometres on the clock.
After about a week it became difficult to get into reverse gear.(previous owner did not have this problem)
I found that if I switched the engine off, I could then select reverse.
I have been to 2 garages (one was a Fiat garage) and in both cases they said I needed a new clutch.
Now, in the old days, we ran up to and touched a kerb with the front wheels to see if the clutch slipped.
I tried this and it doesn’t slip.
I’m a bit baffled as to what is actually wrong and as the dearest (Fiat Garage) quote was for €1600 euros I would really like some advice.
I’ve just joined the “Fiat Forum” online so I hope this works
