not sure if this comes under ice, but whats everyones opinions on LCDs etc, think its a waste of time for my wee punto? I can see advantages, parking up with mates or gf and watching a movie, think thatd be cool, I think from looking at ebay I could put together a dvd player/12" flipdown for like 200 or a bit less, think its worth it?

I was askin bout this the other day and someone made a good point that if you have a flipdown there will be wires running all over the place and the roof lining will sag cos of the extra weight!

I too was thinking the same and if your a dab hand with electrics i reckon its a winner but that is the drawback of a flipdown based on others!

lol yeah Ive got a wee pstwo, am I right in thinking the pstwo's can just go straight into a car without the need for an invertor or anything?

no, they run off 240 volts just like every console.

K, just 'cause the transformer has 12v written on it, i thought maybe itd be cool.

Yeah good point about the roof lining, dont know how Id deal with that to be honest, how would I get the lining off/back on and have it look decent, hmm... maybe flipdown isnt best way to go.

I have spent about 3 hours today, making an adapter (yes making!) so i can hook up my ps2 to my in-car dvd player!

Haven't tried it yet, but it works on something else, which uses the same connectors. :D

Ok i know this is only a few weeks late...

I just put in an 8" flip down TFT in the centre of the head lining and wired the power into the dash on a switch in the clove compartment (bugger them ugly cigarette lighters) and the Av leads into the boot with my PS2 setup. The PS2 power is wired into the dash on another hidden switch in the glove compartment (through an inverter of course).

No saggy bits or wires anywhere, all very tidy and the screen was $70 after p+p and additional shipping cost of £20. The inverter was £9 after p+p and i have already had my PS2 for a couple of years.

So for £79 (and your own playstation) you can get a tidy little set up, some serious wiring is needed so you need to know what you're doing though.

My car is a mk1 Brava S btw

Heres the pics. sorry about the quality it was done in the dark and with my camera phone, but you will get the general idea.

The monitor, 8" flip down tft from tokyo at £70 after p+p and all the rest.

one of the two hidden switches, the playstation one is exactly the same on the other side next to the glove compartment light. i also want other switches in here so my next project is to make a switch board type thing which fits in the glove compartment.

The PS2 (silver) in the right hand rear of the boot, fully removable but stirdy, the AV wiring runs through the little grill in the plastic at the behind where the playstation is fitted, up the post and into the headlining without any bumps, the power lead runs through the floor and up into the dash.

The monitor on, excuse the brightness, these phones are crap! (thats a footwell neon at the bottom, its not glare from the screen.)

Any comments welcome.

i wondered if i should fit mine in the roof but desided against it as i didnt think it would hold the weight, so mines passenger side on the dash.

the screen can be easily removed and the stand also can without leaving any marks...

i was unsure of the legilality of having it in the centre as i know the drivers not ment to be able to see it.

oh and yes it is cool parking in a car park and watching a film with your mates (y)

also, i'm going to spray the case of the lcd and the stand black as it doesnt look right in white.
