Been watching this story develop over on Pistonheads the past wee while and looks like it's actually going to come to fruition. They've also done a full size rally mock-up...

...but the standard car looks, well, interesting  ...

...and like the original, it'll have a Ferrari derived engine, this time from an F430 but with 533hp. Should make it quite nippy I'd imagine

So what does everyone reckon? Not bad or a bad cover of a brilliant original?

Not my cuppa tea tbh, much prefer the original. The bad copy is too flat and square in the wrong way. Headlights are just wrong imo

Saying that, it does look fairly respectable in the Alitalia livery

The front looks a bit wierd, but from the back...wow

Imagine that driving down the street, poping, burbuling and banging as you lift of the throttle.

I reckon it's down to the headlights that the front maybe doesn't work. Therefore, mucked around for a bit and did 2 modded versions. One with reshaped lights, one with pop ups with the original pic as well to give a comparison ...

Yeah, I miss pop up headlights too. Killed off the nice Elan look the mk1 MX5 had and lead to the Diablo having awkwardly integrated Nissan 300ZX headlights. Oh well, at least they haven't outlawed buying second hand cars with them. Yet :p

Haven't seen the exact costs but given the underpinnings and the performance, I'd guess pretty near or past the £100k mark. It would easily top 200mph, but from the PH article it looks like it's more geared for acceleration than all out speed. Saying that though, I wonder how a car with such a short wheelbase would handle at 200mph+
