The g/f's escort went for it's mot today, bad news!!! Work needed, £200 welding, exhaust, wipers and door seals needed. Total £400. As you may imagine were not going to spend £400 repairing a car worth £100!

However, the engine, gearbox etc is all in mint condition, runs like a dream! done under 60k!

So, my question, does anybody know what kit cars i can build using the mk4 escort as a donor as me n the old man fancy having a crack!

Let me knoe if anyone has any good ideas!

none im affraid. a few of them use ford sierra or granada, but unfortunatly not escorts

Re: Re: Kit Car

i've found a few that use the mk 1 & 2 escorts. looks like she might be going to the great ford garage (i mean scrap yard) in the sky!!!

Re: Re: Re: Kit Car

I have a Robin Hood 2B Kit Car, currently sorting out a 2.5 sierra tipo engine for it, If you have the knowledge im sure you can use that engine but the engine sits the opposite way round as in the donor car, instead of left to right it sits front to back so ring a few companies up ask them for dimensions of simply if it will fit their kit?!

Al you crazy big engined kit car loon! hehe

Als is right, most kit cars tend to catore for the 2 litre ford engines but there are a few that were designed with a 1.6 in mind. I have a kitcar with a 1.6 X flow BTW! And Allan has a Pinto in his. hehe I get the feeling we will meet upon the 1/4 mile for some fun in the near future Allan lol!

The Sylva Striker was built with the 1.6 CVH though they'll take pretty much what ever you can fit in them and they are well cheap too the kit costs about £2500 of the top of my head
They look really nice too. Some kit cars look pants but I love the shape of em try looking at the below. Its the one thats based on the caterham I like. C what u think m8

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Kit Car

thats the kind f thing i was looking for!!! cheers! It's only the 1300 ford engine so i wanted something light but i would like to use it as i would like to mess with it and see how much power i can get out of it, learn about engine mods etc. That way if i blow it by over cranking it i can move to a bigger lump!!! :-D cheers for lookin for me lads!!!

Nice

I like the look of the Phoenix, its pretty cheap too. I have a spare kent engine and box in good condition and my Dad has been thinking of doing something like that for a while now. If we split the cost it could be a great weekend toy.
