Been driving around in my Seicento sporting for 2 days now with the Key Code warning light on. (Ive not had this or any similar problems before and the car has now done 44k miles)
Ive checked in the manual which tells me the following:
As the light does stay on, but it also flickers (much like a lightbulb when its on its way out). It also turns itself off sometimes and then comes on again a few seconds later. The flickering happens near enough all the time.
I spoke to the guy in my works garage earlier today (without even taking a test drive, or checking the car over), he reckons the key needs replacing, or recoding. He also tells me this is likely to cost around £150...yes you heard me right, £150!!!!!!!
Im not sure whether i should pay this sort of price for something so little, especially when the car is starting well, and im not having any sort of ignition problems (yet).
My dad reckons the light is on because of a possible faulty warning light, or there could even be a loose connection with the wires.
Anyone with any mechanical experience, what would your opinion be for me to do about it? I dont want to really pay that much money for it when like my dad says, it could be a loose connection.
Cheers in advance,
Luke.
Ive checked in the manual which tells me the following:
- If the light stays on permanently, the car will NOT start.
- If the light is flashing then the immobiliser is not working but the car will still start.
