I have spent the last hour searching the forum for answers, and I have got lots! In short, ever since I bought my 2003 Abarth 5dr it has kangarooed a little from cold, only did it on very light throttle openings. Then, on Wednesday I changed the thermostat. To do this I had to remove the intake pipework, the MAF sensor and loads of pipes and fittings from around the throttle.
Now, with it all back together, the kangarooing happens at any time I am trying to drive in very low speed traffic with extremely small throttle openings. So, after a LOT of reading I believe the problem could be down to faulty coils, a faulty MAF, faulty sensors, a faulty ECU etc.
I had to remove the engine cover to gain access to the stat housing area, and I rested some tool over the coil packs while I was working. I really don't want to buy £170 of coil packs to find that isn't the problem.
With the windows open, I can hear that the engine isn't running quite right, no error messages, just not quite sounding right.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, namely, if you have suffered from all temperature kangarooing, and you got it fixed, what was done to fix it!
Cheers
Andy
